Understanding Comics: Lines

Similar to cartoons is the use of strokes or patterns to express emotions and convey senses to the readers. These lines allow the reader to see the unseen and truly experience a sense of movement about pictures. This sense of movement gives the cartoon a sense of realism and excitement that would be missing if the lines that created movement and emotions were to disappear from the page. However, it is really up to the reader to allow these cartoons and lines to come to life, otherwise you will just be enjoying ink and paper.
