This past year at the University of Kansas has been a wonderful start to my college experience. I learned and enjoyed so much in every class I took, allowing me to eagerly look forward to the years to come. There are so many people I owe gratitude to for this year; especially God, my family, the wonderful teachers, and my fellow classmates. This summer I plan to explore and divulge myself into design, drawing experience and knowledge from various designers and artists to further my talents. I look forward to the upcoming year!

Book Binding: The Great Graphics
For our last assignment, we were assigned to create a book with a variety of designers. We were assigned a specific designer and then designed two double-paged spreads for said designer. Once this was complete, we were placed in a group with fellow students and combined all our spreads to create individual books with unique jackets, title pages, table of contents, end pages, biographies, and logos for the publication company. These books were hand bound, making them all the more difficult but fun.
I loved this project because I truly got to explore the graphic design aspect that we have been waiting for all semester. I could not have asked for a better group and Ann was a wonderful teacher, who gave excellent and relevant advice when it came to critiques. This project was thoroughly enjoyable and fun and a great way to end the semester.
France
This past summer, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel across seas and visit the beautiful setting of France, both in Paris and several cities in the South of France: Avignon, Cabasse, Cannes, Marseille, Monaco, Nimes, Nice, and Aix-en-Provence.
This visit to France was the perfect beginning to my study in the Design field because the setting of France is enriched with beautiful designs in their architecture, the vast amount of museums, and the influence of different cultures like the Romans and Gauls. I hope to continue researching and influencing myself through the beautiful art of the European continent. After completing my major in Graphic Design at the University of Kansas, with a minor in Film and French, I plan to revisit France and further open my artistic horizons amongst the beautiful European setting.

Self-Portrait
For my Illustration 205 Final, the class was assigned to create a triptych with three sheets of 18x24 paper. Our teacher wished that everyone choose an artist, technique, or movement that we found interesting during our studies of several mediums this the semester. After deciding on our subject material, we would execute the triptych employing and mastering three different mediums that we studied these past few months.
After researching several different artists, I decided that the artist Mucha was jus my cup of tea. His technique and style appealed to me so much, I found myself getting lost in his works. I had the desire to imitate one of his artworks, but my teacher wanted me to add a piece of myself into the artwork, therefore; making it my own. I am truly happy that he encouraged me to do so because I loved working from my imagination and creating with my own hand.
I utilized three specific mediums: color pencil, watercolor, and ink. The process of applying the mediums was rather long but it was completely worth it once I had the finished result.
In the two corners, I created symbols that reflected my personality and my love for certain things. The right corner contains a fleur de lys symbolizing my fluency in the French language while the moon and three stars represent my love for the night air and the enchanting night sky. While in the left corner, there is a triquetra symbolizing my long Irish heritage, as well as, my catholic faith. A wolf encircles this symbol, representing my love for the animal but also for Irish Wolfhounds and the snowflakes and stars again symbolize the beauty of the night.
